IGARD services is run by optometrists who are the primary eye care and vision specialists - they are not the same as ophthalmologists (or eye surgeons). The tests are non-invasive and there will be no pain/sting from the use of dilating eye drops.

Children who are shortsighted may like to register for the Children Myopia Plan to keep the condition under regular monitoring (see below). Myopia control options are also offered at IGARD Group. Further assessment for children include heriditary/acquired colour vision problems, stereopsis (3D vision), learning/reading disabilities and pretests to determine the suitability for vision therapy and/or vision training for mild/moderate ocular convergence and accommodative anomalies that does not require eye alignment surgery. Note that children tests may need more than one session. Tests that are conducted will be age-dependent and choice of test will be determined by the vision specialist consultant [Pediatric Vision - IGARD Group]

Need more information?

We take pride in explaining all the things we do. And therefore, we hope that you will find the following information useful:

STANDARD TESTS - IGARD is a centre for Primary Eye Care and Vision Specialist services in Singapore. Standard Eye Examination is required for all patients EXCEPT when you already have a valid prescription. Standard Eye Examination includes a short consultation and a series of standard tests to assess the general condition of the eye and visual health. Thereafter, spectacles and/or contact lenses can be prescribed and dispensed according to your visual requirement. However, further ocular assessment may sometimes be required for the diagnosis and/or prescription and/or management/treatment plan. There is generally NO ADDITIONAL COST towards Ocular Refraction if you require new spectacles to be dispensed at IGARD. There is also NO ADDITIONAL COST towards Cornea Health Assessment if you require new contact lenses to be dispensed at IGARD. For more information about the Standard Eye Examination, please refer to Frequently Asked Questions <--Click Here

FURTHER OCULAR ASSESSMENT  will be conducted only where necessary for the purpose of diagnosis and/or prescription. Patients will be informed of the further ocular assessment before it is conducted and they will only be conducted after a Standard Eye Examination or a referral from a recognised healthcare practitioner (e.g. doctor / ophthalmologist). We accept referrals from Dispensing Opticians for Standard Eye Examination. Should you require a new pair of spectacles from IGARD, our optometrist will automatically conduct an Ocular Refraction for you during your Standard Eye Examination and it will not require you to pay additional fees for this test. Contact Lens subscribers with IGARD will not be charged for Cornea Health Assessment.

SPECIAL CORPORATE CHARGES - Please contact your company HR to find out if you are eligible for corporate rates and special discounts. If you are unsure, please email tina@IGARD.com.sg. As part of your company's eyecare and optical benefits, you may be entitled to special rates for eye examination, spectacles, contact lenses and other optical products.

SPECIAL DISCOUNTS FOR STUDENTS - Students in tertiary education locally are entitled to discounts under the 'university eyecare and optical benefits programme' - including NTU / NUS / SMU / RP / TP / SP / NYP / NP / UniSIM / SIM / MDIS. Singaporean students studying at foreign universities are also entitled to discounts under the 'university eyecare and optical benefits programme'. Please present university student/matric card and/or NRIC for verification.

Professional charges and fees are listed clearly on our website and at the centre. If you are unsure or if you need any clarification, please ask a member of staff at our centre or phone 67323233 / 90256677 / email tina@IGARD.com.sg

We encourage you to:

ASK FOR YOUR NEW PRESCRIPTION - We strongly encourage patients to retain a writen copy of their new prescription for self-monitoring and/or to obtain a new pair of spectacles or contact lenses. Upon the completion of a Standard Eye Examination, you will be entitled to a waiver on Ocular Refraction when you get yourself a new pair of spectacles dispensed at IGARD. This is because all spectacles (whether from IGARD or elsewhere) will have already 'factored-in' the cost of the services (namely, Ocular Refraction and Dispensing Fee). Your prescription for spectacles will usually be given to you upon collecting your new spectacles. Should you require a prescription for contact lenses, they will usually be provided after you have completed both Standard Eye Examination and the Cornea Health Assessment which is normally conducted as a 'follow-up visit' 1 to 2 weeks after dispensing a new contact lens prescription. We are happy to providing you a writen copy of your new prescription for spectacles upon your completion of both Standard Eye Examination and Ocular Refraction.

The contact lens prescription consist of the following: Lens Brand/Design/Series, Lens Material, Lens Water Content, Base Curve, Total Diameter, SPH Power, CYL Power & AX (If you have astigmatism correction) and ADD Power (If you have presbyopia correction).

GET YOUR EYES CHECKED REGULARLY

Recommended:

Further assessments &/or follow-up reviews may be required for a small minority of our patients within a shorter time frame.
